What’s the one dish I could eat every week and never get bored?
Fish and potatoes - in any and every variation know to man:
Fish & chips
Salmon over dauphinoise potatoes and greens
Chowder.
After finding out in a pop quiz that there are over 4,000 variations of potato, I doubt I could ever be bored.
What flavour do I crave when I’m tired, not hungry?
Something sweet. Percy pigs. Mangoes (mmm... mangoes!!) M&S strawberries..
Which indulgent snack do I secretly always keep around—just in case?
Chocolate cake.
Proper Chips BBQ Lentil Chips.
Always.
Do I take my coffee slowly, or all in one go?
All in one go.
1. Freshly grounded beans - make sure to cool it down with ice
2. Add oat milk
3. Gulp. Swallowed. Ready for the next round in about 3 hours...
What’s the one thing I’ll always order if it’s on a menu?
Apple crumble
Which restaurant do I return to when I want to feel completely taken care of?
Hawksmoor. I've only ever had great experiences there.
And M Threadneedle. Both fantastic environments.
Which comfort food has nothing to do with the taste, and everything to do with memory?
How about both? Nigerian pepper soup. It burns every sin away, but my gosh, do you feel brand new in the morning. My mum used to make it when I was ill, and the next day I will be doing cartwheels.
I keep some frozen tubs in the freezer - many more in winter!
What do I reach for when I want something warm but not sweet?
Chinese chicken and sweetcorn soup. There is a takeaway near me, and it always hits the spot!
A spice that always makes me feel like I’m home?
Nigerian chilli.
Do I eat slowly because I’m savouring, or because I’m thinking?
Thinking. I really need to change that to savouring...
What’s the drink I only order when I’m in a certain kind of mood?
Cocktail? Mojito! It has to be made with passion, or my mood will be ruined. It's a drink that is so easy to get wrong...
Most sensual meal I’ve ever eaten, and who was across the table?
Randomly a homemade lasagne that I made, home alone!
What kind of dessert is worth breaking all my food rules for?
A rich, little more than 1 serving, warm chocolate made with coffee. Served with vanilla ice cream....
What food makes me feel softest?
Midday pancakes make me feel really taken care of.
Or a Crosstown doughnut. Hmm.. Maybe 3.
What would I cook for someone I wanted to impress without looking like I’m trying?
Salmon tagliatelle. You will fall in love with me.
If you’re still with me, the next post is about shops and little luxuries—what catches my eye, what I take home, and what I quietly hope someone will notice.
